| The National University Hospital is administered by the Ministry of Health and Social Security. It receives appropriations in the general budget. In 1996, the appropriations amounted to 7 billion IKR or 22% of the total health sector appropriations and 6% of the total expenditure of the Icelandic State. State appropriations amount to 91% of the total running cost of the hospital. Special income for services rendered to other medical care establishments and services provided in outpatients wards, X-rays and other laboratory work, which are paid in part by the patient, amount to 9% of the total running cost. | |
